Relux Project Case | Batiul Futuh Mosque

Relux Project Case  002

Light plays a crucial role in emphasising architectural masterpieces, especially culturally significant buildings such as the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden, London. As one of the largest mosques in Western Europe, it was given a sophisticated lighting design that emphasises its spiritual and architectural significance even after dark. The Luminous Solutions team used advanced lighting technologies to emphasise the mosque's impressive features while creating a harmonious atmosphere.

The Baitul Futuh mosque, known for its impressive architecture and spiritual significance, attracts numerous worshippers and visitors. With the renovation following a fire in 2015, the opportunity arose to integrate a modern lighting concept that fulfils both aesthetic and functional requirements.

The Luminous Solutions team developed a lighting concept that emphasises the architectural details of the mosque while creating an inviting atmosphere. By using energy-efficient LED technology and intelligent control systems, it was possible to realise sustainable and flexible lighting.

Particular attention was paid to adapting the lighting to the different uses of the rooms, from prayer areas to communal spaces. The careful positioning of the luminaires and the choice of light colours help to underline the spiritual atmosphere and emphasise the architectural character of the mosque.

«The lighting design for the Baitul Futuh mosque was a particular challenge for our team. With modern lighting solutions, we were able to create a balance between functionality and aesthetics that emphasises the spiritual character of the mosque and at the same time meets the requirements for energy efficiency.»

Visualisation with real-time renderer by Enscape

An impressive visualisation helps to better market a project. The Enscape real-time renderer in ReluxDesktop offers an attractive presentation option for this purpose. This is included free of charge in the latest version. Day and night and the position of the sun can be set. Photorealistic visualisations are possible if the textures on the objects are also assigned accordingly. Luminaires can be moved in ReluxDektop and the position and effect is shown in real time in a separate display window.

Measure and calculate light pollution in outdoor projects

Light pollution can be easily calculated and planned. With the ObtrusiveLight add-on for ReluxDesktop, the following norms and standards can be complied with: CIE 150:2017, SN-EN 12464-2:2014, SN-EN 12193, ÖNORM O 1052:2022, NSVV Lichthinder 2023 and LAI 2012. Using measurement surfaces and a light dome, light pollution can also be assessed visually, taking the standards into account.
